We are Buffalo Warriors Hockey

The Buffalo Warriors Hockey program uses the game of hockey as an outlet for mental and physical rehabilitation in a friendly and competitive environment that encourages teamwork and camaraderie for local veterans. Our program consists of the Buffalo Warriors stand-up hockey teams and the Sabres Sled Vets sled hockey team.

Created in 2012 through a partnership with the Buffalo Sabres Foundation, Sabres Alumni Association and Various donors and sponsors, the program was developed to provide recreational on-ice opportunities to local veterans using sled hockey and traditional stand-up hockey as a driving force for physical and emotional rehabilitation and improve their quality of life.

With the support of the Veterans Affairs Western New York Recreational Services program, the Buffalo Sabres Warriors features over 100 hockey players of all different ages, abilities and experience. The one common-thread is each player is a veteran.

FEATURED PLAYER SGT Chris Mackert served in the United States Army with the 101st Airborne as a 98C2L Electronic Warfare Signals Intel Analyst from 1991 to 2000. Chris served with the 1st Armored Division in Bosnia where he was awarded the Army Commendation Medal for his role in saving the life of a fellow service member. We thank you for your service at home and abroad.
